Certified Accountant
MDS Group is recruiting for an Accountant to join the Finance Department at our Porto office, supporting our Iberian and USA operations.
The ideal candidate will bring solid expertise in financial accounting, period-close management, reconciliations and regulatory compliance, combined with the capacity to operate effectively across multiple entities and reporting frameworks, This is a hands-on position for a detail-oriented and proactive professional who is equally comfortable working independently and collaborating across teams and for whom working in English is second nature.
Function Responsibilities
Own the accuracy and completeness of accounting records across multiple entities and regulatory frameworks
Lead bank reconciliations, resolving outstanding items with full accountability
Manage asset registers (tangible and intangible) ensuring entries and controls remain current
Drive the monthly and annual accounting close, coordinating with internal teams to meet tight deadlines
Prepare financial statements, management reports and regulatory submissions to a high standard across Portuguese, Spanish and US reporting frameworks
Ensure full compliance with tax and legal obligations across all applicable jurisdictions
Act as a point of reference for internal and external audits and regulatory enquiries
Manage and optimise SAP within the accounting scope, including development projects with technical consultants
Champion process automation and digitalisation initiatives within the team
Communicate effectively with banks, insurers, clients, suppliers and regulatory authorities
About you
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial roles
Background in international professional services, financial shared services or outsourced accounting environments with exposure to Iberian and/or USA markets is strongly valued
Proven track record managing period-close processes and multi-entity reconciliations
Solid experience with SAP or a comparable accounting ERP
Portuguese OCC certification, or international equivalent (CPA, ACCA), is valued
Full professional proficiency in English and Portuguese; Spanish is an advantage
