IT Operations & Governance Engineer
Solutions 360, a service and technology services company of MDS Group is recruiting for an IT Operations & Governance Engineer.
This role role is responsible for supporting and strengthening core IT operational and governance processes across the organisation. The is a technical role ensuring effective patching coverage, compliance reporting, vulnerability remediation, policy management, and process development, while contributing to wider IT risk, audit, monitoring, and asset management activities.
The IT Operations & Governance Engineer acts as a key control function within IT Operations, helping to improve consistency, reduce risk, and support regulatory and audit requirements.
Function Responsibilities
Patching & Vulnerability Management
· Provide operational cover for the IT patching team to ensure continuity of service.
· Own and maintain patching compliance reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit‑ready outputs.
· Design, implement, and own vulnerability management processes, including remediation tracking and escalation.
· Work with technical teams to ensure vulnerabilities are prioritised, patched, and evidenced appropriately.
IT Process Development & Continuous Improvement
· Develop, document, and maintain IT operational processes, ensuring they are clear, consistent, and aligned to organisational standards.
· Communicate process changes effectively to the wider IT team.
· Deliver or coordinate training and knowledge sharing sessions where required to embed new or updated processes.
Policy & Governance Management
· Manage IT policies and associated standards and procedures.
· Identify policy gaps, weaknesses, or areas of non‑compliance and define remediation plans.
· Track and coordinate remediation activities, ensuring clear ownership and closure.
· Support policy reviews and updates in line with regulatory, audit, and organisational requirements.
Knowledge Management
· Maintain and improve the IT Knowledgebase, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and accessible.
· Promote knowledge reuse and self‑service within the IT team.
Operational Risk, Audit & Assurance Support
· Assist with IT Risk Management activities, including risk identification, documentation, and mitigation tracking.
· Support internal and external IT audits by coordinating evidence collection and responding to audit requests.
· Contribute to monitoring, asset management, and other core operational processes as required.
Network Operations and Monitoring
· Experience of using network monitoring tools.
· Technical skills to resolve common monitoring issues e.g. disk space or CPU resourcing.
· Provide operational cover for the IT Monitoring team to ensure continuity of service.
· Work with technical teams to ensure that issues are prioritised, resolved, and logged appropriately.
About you
· Experience in IT Operations, IT Governance, or an IT infrastructure role.
· Experience working with patching, vulnerability management, network monitoring or security remediation processes.
· Demonstrable experience producing operational or compliance reporting.
· Experience developing and documenting IT processes, policies, or procedures.
· Familiarity with IT audit, risk management, or compliance activities.
· Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and security standards (e.g. ISO 27001) is desirable.
· Experience with Microsoft Azure administration and Windows.
· Strong understanding of IT operational control environments.
· Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
· High attention to detail and a methodical approach to governance and compliance tasks.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of processes.
· Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work across technical and non‑technical teams.
· Experience working in a regulated environment.
· Familiarity with vulnerability management tools, patching platforms, monitoring platforms or reporting dashboards.
· Experience supporting audits or regulatory reviews.
· A proactive mindset with a focus on continual improvement.
